Hyundai Venue vs Tata Nexon: Hot Hatchbacks

Both vehicles are top-sellers in the business. The subcompact crossover SUV, the 2022 Hyundai Venue, recently made a comeback in its facelifted guise. The new design language applied to the new Venue perfectly blends with the new-age Hyundai cars in India, like the upcoming Creta facelift and the new Hyundai Tucson.

On the other hand, the Tata Nexon received a facelift in 2020. However, the Indian carmaker has provided several minor updates since its facelift launch to keep up with the inflated input costs.

Despite that, Tata Nexon's sales are still unstoppable, including with the EV iteration of it. Keeping the Nexon EV aside, let's weigh the facelifted versions of the Hyundai Venue and the Tata Nexon and see how they stack up against each other.

Let's start!

Hyundai Venue vs Tata Nexon: Dimensions

Let's begin with the 2022 Hyundai Venue. The length (3995mm) and width (1770mm) of this subcompact crossover SUV are retained, except for the height, which is increased from 1605mm to 1617mm.

Moreover, the wheelbase of 2500mm is the same as the outgoing. As for the Tata Nexon's ground clearance (unladen), it is 209mm.

Coming to the Tata Nexon's dimensions, its length, width, and height measure 3993mm, 1811mm, and 1606mm, respectively.

And the wheelbase of the Nexon is 2498mm, making it marginally shorter than the Hyundai Venue. But, if you compare the overall height of both cars, the Venue is taller than the Nexon, making it easier for passengers to ingress.

The Hyundai Venue's unladen ground clearance is around 195mm.

However, both cars' dimensions are pretty much similar, making these two cars almost equally practical. Now let's jump to the powertrain.

Hyundai Venue vs Tata Nexon: Propulsion Duties

The Hyundai Venue specifications continue to be powered by the same engines as the outgoing. However, it has three engine options: petrol, turbo-petrol, and a diesel engine. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 81bhp and 114Nm of torque.

And the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine can pump out 119bhp and 172Nm of torque.

However, the 1.5-litre diesel-powered engine is good for producing 98bhp and 240Nm of torque. To know the drivability of this newly launched vehicle, check out the 2022 Hyundai Venue review

As for transmission options, the naturally aspirated petrol engine and turbo-petrol engine are exclusive to a five-speed and a six-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT), respectively. Moreover, the diesel engine of the Hyundai Venue is only available with a six-speed manual transmission.

The Tata Nexon also has petrol and diesel engines on offer. The 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 118bhp and 170Nm of torque.

On the other hand, the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine produces 108bhp and 260Nm of torque. Furthermore, they both get a standard six-speed manual transmission and an optional six-speed AMT.

As per the figures, the Hyundai Venue's turbo-petrol engine is marginally more powerful than the Tata Nexon's. However, the Tata Nexon's diesel engine is way more powerful than the Venue's.

These figures are all claimed by ARAI.

At the centre of the black and beige coloured dashboard, there is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The app through which you can check the status of your Nexon also shows the live location, fuel level, service dues, and other essential information.

Moreover, the car also gets a single-pane sunroof that gives an airy feeling in the cabin.
